Chris Mayhew has created what at first inspection may seem to be ‘the laziest control of all time’ – controlling a card from the center of the deck… to the center of the deck.
But don’t be fooled by this apparent simplicity. What Chris fails to mention, is that he can control this single card with absolute pin-point accuracy to any position he wants – the Master of his Domain.
It’s no news that our friend, Rich Li, is a beast at sleight-of-hand card magic, rivaling many other modern card performers.

From a borrowed deck, a spectator freely chooses a card, signs it, and puts it back in the deck before thouroughly shuffling the cards. They then place the cards into THEIR pocket. At no point has the magician touched the deck which means the card can GENUINELY be at any position.
“Waving the Aces” by Guy Hollingworth is one of the most famous and deceptive pieces of card magic ever created. The effect is simple. Four aces are shown face down, one by one they visually turn face up.

You ask a spectator to say “stop” as you riffle through the deck. They think of the card that they freely stopped at. It’s not a force. I promise.
The deck is handled naturally, but with just a spring, one card turns face down, reversed in the deck. It is their selected card – every time. A mechanical miracle.
